The Optical Comparator -7: Finding an Angle With the Screen

The animation above uses the comparator screen to find the angle on the part. The process requires that you use the vertical zero line on the screen and then jocky the screen and the stage until the zero line lies exactly on the part angle line. This takes some practice to get used to. Remember that the screen rotates about its center using the knob shown on page 3.

The angle is then found by reading the protractor on the outside fixed portion of the comparator screen nest.
