WARNING: Machine tools present a safety hazard. Improper operation can result in severe injury. These topics are for non-laboratory study only and are not to be used in conjunction with the operation of any tool or machine described herein. Never use a machine tool without the supervision of a qualified instructor.
Following are some DOs and DON'Ts when using a boring bar

DO feed the offset boring head into the material at a conservative feed rate.

DONT use too fast of a feed rate. It will create vibrations (with noise) and will leave tool marks on the work piece thus reducing finish quality.

DO use Coolant flooding of the cutting area. This is preferred to dry machining in most cases.

DO be sure that the tool point of the boring bar is sharp and correctly located in the boring head
